Cardiac Rehab

Cardiac Rehabilitation “Phase II” is a comprehensive, monitored exercise and education program that is recommended for people following heart surgery or other heart problems. The program includes medically-supervised exercise, educational classes and materials, counseling and group support. The cardiac rehab team includes registered nurses, an exercise physiologist, registered dietitian, pharmacist, stress management/mental health specialist and board-certified cardiologist and medical director.

The cardiopulmonary rehab program meets three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for approximately one hour. The meetings include education, dietary and lifestyle consultations and monitored exercise, as well as ongoing training in stress management and the monitoring of lab work and medication. Typically the program takes 12 weeks but can be modified for individual circumstances. Goals of the program include increased strength, endurance, overall energy level, and confidence to pursue physical activities while also knowing limits. Participants will also learn what else can be done to optimize heart health and reduce chances of future problems. After completing the program, participants are encouraged to continue exercise in the adjacent Pardee Medical Wellness Program in order to maintain their cardiovascular fitness and overall health.

Medicare and most insurance companies cover the costs of this outpatient program. Physician referral is required. The center is located in the Pardee Rehab & Wellness Center on Thompson Street in the East Ridge Shopping Center.
